CALGARY IS RUNNING OUT OF SPACES FOR FORT MCMURRAY AREA EVACUEES.
According to Calgary Emergency Management Agency, Calgary is quickly running out of spaces for Fort McMurray evacuees.
Fort McMurray’s 88,000 residents, as we all now know, have been scattering across the province following the massive wildfire which continues to burn. There are over 2000 evacuees supported in Calgary and more expected putting a massive strain on the current support services.
With this suffering in mind and no-doubt the countless numbers of our Irish community affected, the ICS would like to reach out to its members and all those connected through the various social media networks. We are hoping that out there are those who may be able to provide support of any kind, but especially those who want to offer some temporary accommodation to those in need. The Province of Alberta has been generous to the ICS over many years so now we hope to show our appreciation.
Rose McKiernan of the ICS has kindly offered to coordinate this initiative so if you wish to help in this effort then please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with your name and contact phone number.
